If you buy one thing
2L hydration backpack
Hands-free water plus room for a layer and snacks. Check your festival's bag rules first — some want it empty or clear at the gate.

Loop Experience 2 earplugs
The earplugs you actually keep in. 17 dB off the volume without muffling the mix, and they don't scream 'earplugs' in photos.

Pack for this place.
EDC runs on a flipped clock — gates open in the evening and sets run past sunrise. Desert nights start warm and end cold, and the speedway kicks up dust when the wind picks up.
The party ends at dawn — your 6am self will thank you for the layer and the earplugs. Decide your shuttle or drive plan before night one; the trip back to the Strip is the hardest part of EDC.
Rules are the final word.
Insomniac publishes an acceptable-items list that changes by edition, including hydration pack and totem rules. Camp EDC has separate gear rules if you're camping. Read the rules-check guide.
Dress for it.
EDC dressing is nocturnal: you leave the hotel at sunset. Rave wear, kandi, and reflective everything are the norm — but build it on a base that survives ten hours of dancing and a 40-degree temperature swing. The full what-to-wear guide covers night layers, footwear, and the extras.
Quick answers
EDC Las Vegas, asked and answered
How do people survive EDC's all-night schedule?
Sleep during the day and commit to it — blackout curtains and earplugs at the hotel matter as much as anything in your festival bag. Headliners play at 4am and the ride back adds an hour.
Can I bring a hydration pack into EDC?
Hydration packs have been on the acceptable-items list in recent editions, with limits on pockets. Refill stations inside are free — carrying water is non-negotiable at a desert event.
How cold does the speedway get at night?
You will sweat at midnight and shiver at dawn. May nights in the desert slide toward the 50s Fahrenheit by 5am, so a light layer you can tie off is essential, not optional.
Can this replace the official rules?
No. This is planning guidance; the official policy linked above controls what is permitted at your edition.
